Triple Caution!!!

In the past, there has been a quarter mile long caution on the roads of Camp Maxey. We lied and told you that it was because of unexploded ordinance in that area. Well, it wasn’t a complete lie as there is unexploded ordinance at Camp Maxey. But the real reason was the area in question was under mitigation for erosion.

However, lest you think that there are no longer any cautions on the roads, be warned there is at least one more and it is a triple. Unlike the previous one which was a hazard of nature and is being mitigated by both nature and the Guard, the new caution was made by the Guard. It is a creek crossing designed to test the skills of tank drivers. Here is a picture taken from above the creek. Note the depth marker on the left exceeds 5 feet and I am standing at least 15 feet above that. This rise takes place in the space of about 30 feet. I leave to you civil engineers types to calculate the angle of the grade.

Here is a shot from the other direction.

Because photographs are not 3D, both these shots tend to flatten out the prospective. Believe me, this is a real triple caution. If you take it too fast, you will break your car and you will be hurt. The reason is that you will hit the opposite side of the crossing just like hitting a wall. So slow down for this crossing!!!

In this spot, if you crash, we will have to just drag your car away and bury it. There are several other places where you can slide off and get stuck too. So we have made arrangements to have a wrecker standing by. I think this one should be able to do the job.

Of course if you really stuff it, Sgt. Lamonica has a unit to fetch the remains of your rally car out of the swamp.

That is built on an Abrams tank chassis. It will have no problem hoisting a rally car out.

So drive carefully. We don't want to fill out the paper work. And you don’t want to go wading in the swamp to clean up the oil spill. Because those are the rules, you rip off your oil pan and dump oil into the water, you wade out to clean it.
